This Policy explains how Refocus (“the App”) handles information related to your device and use of the App. By using the App, you acknowledge this Policy. If you disagree, please stop using and uninstall the App.
1. Who we are
The App is provided and maintained by an individual developer, not a company. For privacy questions, contact the email above.
2. What we collect
The App does not require an account and does not intentionally collect your real name, national ID, or precise home address.
2.1 Data stored primarily on your device
- Preferences (language, default intervention style, etc.)
- Tokens / nicknames for apps you choose to guard
- Timing policies, reminder copy, force-focus settings
- Local interrupt events and related stats (Today, Focus report, etc.)
These data are stored on-device by default and may be shared via an iOS App Group between the main app and system extensions (e.g. shield UI / actions) so Screen Time features can work.
2.2 System permissions and frameworks

You may revoke access in iOS Settings; related features may stop working.
2.3 Third-party services (build-dependent)
Depending on the build and configuration, the App may include:
- Firebase (e.g. Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config) for diagnostics, basic analytics, and remote config
- Umeng for analytics if initialized in that build
These providers may process device identifiers, diagnostics, or usage events under their own policies, and may transfer data outside your country/region. We do not sell your personal information.
2.4 What we do not intentionally collect
- Contacts, SMS, or photo library content
- Health data for medical diagnosis
- Personal information from children (see §6)
3. How we use information
Only to:
- Provide and improve micro-interventions, shields, reminders, and on-device stats
- Diagnose crashes and serious errors (if Crashlytics etc. are enabled)
- Respond when required by law or to protect rights and safety
4. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal information, except:
- With your consent
- To service providers needed to operate the App (§2.3), limited to that purpose
- When required by law or lawful authority
- When reasonably necessary to protect the developer, users, or the public
5. Storage and security
- Core usage data stays on your device (and the App Group)
- Third-party SDKs store data under their own practices
- No internet transmission is perfectly secure; protect your device unlock method
6. Children’s privacy
The App is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. Contact us to request deletion if you believe we have.
7. Your choices
You may:
- Disable Screen Time / notification permissions in system Settings
- Clear or adjust local data via in-app controls where available
- Uninstall the App to remove on-device data (SDK-side retention follows their policies)
- Email ruancanghui@163.com with privacy questions or requests
8. Changes
We may update this Policy. Material changes will be noted by updating the effective date on this page and/or other reasonable notice. Continued use means you accept the updated Policy.
